Our History

Sprocs Formworks, an ISO 9001:2015 certified concern established in the year 1995 is one of the largest manufacturers of splicing solutions with more than two decades experience. We have executed several projects in south India.

Mechanical splicing for reinforcement bars done at site and the mechanical joints named couplers are manufactured by us.

SPROCS FORMWORKS was incorporated in the year 1995, founded by Mr.M.V.Vasudevan who have had extensive experience in servicing and marketing earth moving equipments and construction machineries, holding key positions in a multinational company. Vasudevan was the pioneer in supplying Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) for L&T way back in 1992. RMC was first of its kind in India that time. He was the sole distributor for this unique product and very successfully introduced the same in the construction industry . We have 25 years of experience in servicing and manufacturing.

SPROCS weldable couplers are designed for connecting reinforcing bar to structural steel memebers such as plates, piles,beams,columns etc. The load conditions at the connection must be considered and determined by the designer alongwith the design of the weld, the selection of electrode and other relevant choices to be used which must be matched to the properties of the plate and tube and the site conditions.

Padma Vasudevan

Mrs. Padma Vasudevan, wife of Mr.M.V Vasudevan Founder and former Chief Executive Officer of the company, has taken over the reins of the company SPROCS FORM WORKS , post the untimely demise of Mr. Vasudevan in 2018, as the CEO of the company and manages the entire operations of the company. Earlier, she had been extending overall support in the background providing unstinting assitance to her husband Mr. Vasudevan, ever since the company’s inception in 1995. Mrs. Padma Vasudevan is the torch bearer of Mr. Vasudevan’s vision – Global Recognition of the company SPROCS FORM WORKS.. Her first step in that direction entailed getting the company ISO certified and conducting the necessary Tests for compliance of Indian Standards code

Threaded steel coupler system

The threaded steel coupler system is designed as a threaded reinforcement connection with 100% load transmission. The Coupler rebar connection system is suitable for both static and dynamic load transmission in construction joints. The coupler is designed as a threaded reinforcement connection for formed construction joints. Reinforcement work is normally carried out on both sides of the construction joint using lap joints or one side is anchored. The bar lengths are based on the structural analysis requirements of the building component and are Calculated from anchorage and lap lengths.

The coupler system provides the opportunity to connect rebars quickly, easily and cost effectively, even when large rebar diameters are used. This makes the threaded steel coupler range a logical extension to our rebendable for rebars over 12mm diameter. We are providing rebar couplers, which is a simple method of connecting two bars And also provide Reducer Couplers for variable diameters of rebars.

Threaded Coupler System

Our coupler system complies to many International Codes like:

IS 16172 :2014

ACI 318

BS 8110

As per ACI : 318 Coupler at points of critical tension are required to develop a minimum of 125% fy(yield strength assigned to the grade of bar

The system is being used by various Projects by most of the leading builders and contractors across the country.

Ultimate Tensile Strength
As per ACI 318, there are types of Mechanical Splices, Type -1 and Type -2

Type – 1 couplers are where minimum load in tension should be 125% fy of the bar.
Type – 2 couplers at points of critical tension are required to develop a minimum of 125%fy of the bar and also achieve the ultimate specified tensile strength of the parent bar.
Our sprocs barbreak coupler system is a type – 2 system.

As per BS8110, coupler joint should achieve minimum 115% of the bar under tension and the permanent elongation after loading from 0 – 60%fy and back to 0 should be under 0.1mm. Our couplers satisfy the slip requirement of under 0.1mm
Our unique PARALLEL coupler ensures the locking connection thus providing load path continuity on original surface of material and creates structural integrity.
Our Barbreak Type – 2 Couplers overcome the relative movement between the coupler threads and the bar threads as per BS 8110 where the slip should not be more than 0.1mm. Our couplers achieve full strength by hand tightening..
Due to ease in our threading process, we can thread more than 600 bars in a shift depending on the length & diameter of the rebar

SPROCS COUPLERS are designed to withstand Not less than 90% of the actual tensile strength of the bar but in no case less than 585 N/sq.mm for Fe-550 grade of IS 1786 : 2008 (RA 2013)
